Pet Care: Nail Trimming

Trimming your pet’s nails should be made a part of your regular routine. Try to trim at least once every two weeks. The more you do this, the more comfortable you and your pet will be.

A disabled, aging, or arthritic dog greatly benefits from having short nails. It makes it much easier for them to maneuver, especially when your floors are not carpeted. If the nails are too long, your dog will have a difficult time getting up or pulling itself around when in a wheelchair.

The following illustrates how you can become an accomplished nail trimmer.

If you are unsure of this process, please consult with your pet care professional. Most of them are more than happy to show you how to trim your pet’s nails.
